Engineers from Carnegie Mellon University in collaboration with researchers from the Future Interfaces Group create intelligent management technology to smartwatch. This technology does not require to touching the touch screen or the device itself.
The development, dubbed SkinTrack, consists of a special ring and sensitive receiver in the form of a bracelet on her wrist, which together can convert skin of the hand in touch screen. Once the finger with the ring to touch of the hand, as a high-frequency signal generated by the gadget starts to spread throughout the skin. Bracelet, working together with the electrodes detects the signals, calculates the distance to the finger and identifies the gesture. The technology allows to recognize touch with 99% accuracy, and does not cause difficulties when dialing a phone number, writing text messages or playing games. The introduction of such a development would significantly increased the possibility of wearable smartwatch with small touch screens, on which is almost impossible to press, if the submitted content is has very small images or a large number of finely written text.
