Specialists from Japan have developed an ultrathin elastic display, capable of fastening to the skin of a person. The medical indicators,collected by means of such devices can be saved in a smartphone or cloud storage. It consists of light-emitting diodes (16 x 24 pieces), which, in turn, are placed on a substrate of special stretchable conductors. Now the display can not boast of full transparency, but the material is already easily stretched.
The display received a wireless module, so it can broadcast notices, inscriptions, passwords, etc. Developers suggest using a new technology in healthcare – for example, to connect to it an electrocardiogram so that the patient can follow the pulse. In demonstrating the invention, a graph of a cardiogram displayed in real time was displayed. Sensors can also measure temperature, pressure and record muscle activity.
Before that, versions of “electronic skin” were already offered, but according to the developers, their screen can be worn on the skin by 45% longer than the rest.
Finally, it is planned to introduce such screens into the healthcare system within the next 3 years. Before that,a development will be improved : the longevity of the display will be increased and mass production of the product will be established. True, not a word is said about the power source and power consumption of the device.
