Tanvas, startup from Northwestern University, is planning to create a revolution by its own prototype of tactile display. This system, which theoretically can be installed on any existing touch screen, although some of the most attractive options for application may be not on the smartphone or tablet.

Developers Ed Colgate and Michael Peshkin applied electrostatics, which modulates the sensation of grip. That is, the screen uses a static to change the clutch, which senses your finger,when moving on the touch screen. It is not very accurate, but the user is able to grasp the change, depending on what is displayed.
For example, if you touch the line numbers on the screen, you will be feeling the same way as you touch the sandpaper. Of course, this feeling is not so real, but very close.
It should be noted, that the first developers see the application of the system in automotive displays, in Tesla, for example. Rather than look at the screen, Tanvas display will give you the opportunity to feel the real controller in hand.
