Oiio Oto Pod offers a futuristic public transportation concept to reduce the use of private car-based transportation.Cars have a problem: all their parts — the trunk, the cabin, the engine — are connected together. According to oiio architecture studio, the best way to create a better, seamlessly connected mobility system is by disconnecting these components. These working components are cabin, engine, and trunk. Standard cars don’t offer choice between those three components, they all come together in one package.
The challenge asks designers to create concepts for the future of transportation.
Each Oto pod is broken down into three components: a cabin, wheel base and shuttle. An individual could own the cabin, but the wheel base and shuttle would be shared and are interchangeable. The pods could affix to a track system that runs along roads or up walls.
In the near future, say 2060, when AI is more of a thing, when people trust it with their lives and don’t question it whatsoever, vertical highways may shuffle around engine platforms and cabin pods. what oiio is proposing is a temporary assembly-unit, which would serve users exact needs on demand
