The Mobuno concept is a design study carried out by the design firm xoio and the Institute for Urban Mobility (IUM). The project demonstrates the capabilities of modern vehicles, combined in one concept car. However, the concept provides for not one car, but a whole transport system built on the basis of Mobuno cars.
The concept of Mobuno is an optimal system for the exchange of autonomous transport. Each of the Mobuno cars can be instantly booked and quickly filed. In this case, users can view the status of the order, the location of the machines and their availability through a special application on their smartphone.
Each Mobuno car can carry up to four people. When ordering, the user must specify the exact number of passengers, and with this in mind a certain number of cars are served. During such a trip several cars Mobuno will move strictly one after another, forming a “train”. The system also allows to organize joint trips, in which Mobuno cars will collect passengers traveling in one direction.
The unmanned system used by Mobuno cars makes it possible to use space on the streets and roads as much as possible. When parking lots of cars Mobuno can contact each other to tightly occupy a limited space.
As part of the work on the concept, the creators analyzed the level of mobility that can be provided by the Mobuno system. According to their statements, if only 5 percent of the current number of cars replaced by Mobuno cars, then this will be enough to provide the same level of mobility.
