Bad idea – I can just see all the burger grease flying up onto the laptop screen… or anything else you cook.

This is imbecilic. It suggests the designers have never used a cooker, know nothing about the transfer of energy into heat, and don’t know even the basics of materials science. The laptop would be filthy and germ laden after the first use, but because of its design and electronics it would be impossible to clean. Existing battery technology could store enough energy to power a hotplate like this for about…three minutes. What happens to the underside of the element? What kind of kryptonite is the bottom of the laptop made from so that it doesn’t burn whatever its resting on when in use? Please tell me where I can acquire this battery and material so that I can ride my spaceship there into the future and get it.
