A small French company presented in Las Vegas a prototype device “4 in 1” titled GraalPhone. It can be used as a smartphone, tablet, laptop or even a compact camera with a five-fold optical zoom. This monster runs on Windows 10 and Android, although now the developers have just broken layouts.
How it should work
The idea of the concept is as follows: the user has an Android-smartphone and a computer on Windows, which can be operated independently. If the device inserted into the body, GraalPhone turns into a 7-inch tablet on Android. In this mode, the user has access to two cameras at once (at the rear panel has an opening) that allows you to make 3D-pictures. In this little hard to believe, given the completely different modules, but more simple solutions like pictures with blurred background – an achievable goal. Keyboard without touchpad is by traveling screen. But to call gadget as laptop of this size can only be a stretch.
Looks GraalPhone, to put it mildly, not very good, but the project team is optimistic and wants to release the final version of GraalPhone at the end of 2017 – beginning of 2018. The authors of the concept looks forward to working with major manufacturers of smartphones,to establish their own production, they will not. Before developers is another difficult task – to make sure that Android and Windows fine got along together and not quarreled among themselves when changing modes.
The Old New Thing
The smartphone is inserted into the tablet? Yes this is deceased ASUS PadFone! Camera with lens traveling was at the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom, and compact laptops once released Sony. The idea to combine these devices in one at least looks interesting, but GraalPhone in its present form is inferior to all of them for convenience.
