iCup is an innovative concept specially designed for Apple that can heat up any drink inside the cup by connecting it with the user’s notebook, as well as any device that supports USB connection, via a USB cable  anywhere. The key goal of the project is to ease life with more manageable features that ensure uninterrupted working opportunity, doesn’t matter the user goes to the park, library or working in the office. The featured Apple logo of the cup is actually a heat indicator that shows the temperature of the inside content, blue for cool, orange for warm and pink for hot, while enhancing the aesthetics. Moreover, it incorporates a displaceable handle that offers convenient fit into any small area and the changeable upper portion allows easy washing.

How cool! This makes apple users’ life, especially designers, much easier.

This has already been done. USB drink warmers have been around for years. But someone sticks a bloody apple logo it on and suddenly it’s the greatest invention in history.

Anyway, it wouldn’t work properly. You can’t draw enough power from a USB port to power a heating element up to full temperature.

I have a policy about not leaving liquid on the same surface (or above) my laptop for any reason. And guess what? I’ve never spilled anything on it. Gotta have a loooooong usb cord for this to fly with me!

I’m with Deoli on this one, concept is nice until put into practice.

Besides, if you’re on a MacBook outside of your studio or house, you’re likely to be in a coffee shop anyway.

I’m thirding Deoli. I think it’s pathetic when some stupid and overpriced gadget becomes essential in people’s lives because they’re trying to buy themselves into a society and they’ve been convinced that this magic product will do it.

    Consumerist mentality. Meh

Wow! Finally, a way to reduce your battery life to 30 minutes! Do you have any idea how much power a heating element consumes? Theoretically, though not practically, they should put the processor at the surface of the computer casing, and then you can set your cold beverage on top of the heat sink. At least you would passively bleed the heat from the processor and heat your coffee instead of running a fan to do it. This method would utilize the heat that your computer is already trying to get rid of, with no extra energy expended. Actually, you may use less since your fan isn’t drawing any power. This is if you want to use your computer as a coffee machine. The simplest solution? Buy a goddamn thermos!
