Industrial designer Matthew Smith is working to reduce our dependence on non-renewable forms of energy to power our electronic gear. Since these gadgets are a part of mostly everybody’s life, the total electricity required to keep them ticking is substantial. Matthew is providing solutions by designing gadgets that can be powered by renewable forms of energy, such as kinetic energy.
LG/be – Phone Concept Concept for the “Design the Future” contest put on by LG. LG asked people to design something that could be done in the next 2 or 3 years with today’s or near future technology.
Much like his Fluid Smartphone, Brazilian designer Dinard da Mata has developed another wearable gadget that becomes a fashion accessory to complement the style of next-gen users. Hailed as “MP3 Player Creative,” the portable music player features a flexible OLED screen that other than displaying the playlist also lets the user select the song or control volume with just a touch of a finger. Worn around the wrist like a bracelet, the MP3 concept gives easy access of the functions to the user. In addition, the sleek music player includes wireless headphones to offer clutter-free music on the go.
Presented for the first time on the “LG Electronics Design Competition” in 2010, LG Eagle attract with an original design and the functionality. Eugene Kim is the designer of the dual screen concept phone, a concept phone
that looks like an eagle when is flipped out.

Concept future phone: The PCOD (Personal Communications and Organization Device).
This device combines – smart phone (with video calling), camera, GPS, mp3 player,
storage (for photos, files etc.), time/date/calendar, games, app’s and much more.
The PCOD would also come with changeable holder/straps in various colors and designs -
and the screen wallpaper can be changed to match the chosen holder.
Improving on gadgets is one thing, but there’s a fine line between improvement and over-the-top futurism. This Japanese vending machine is firmly over that line with its insane 47-inch touch screen, cameras and built-in stereotyping.
Here’s another new concept watch from those guys over at TokyoFlash. They call it Night Vision and it actually looks pretty good, thanks to the bright green lights on the face of the watch.

Eco-friendly mobile phone concept powered by liquid fuel cells. Cellphones connecting people with each other have already turned the world into a global village.
Increased security breaches, be they in the workplace or at home, are a matter of concern among working professionals as well as residents, which forces them to keep each and everything under lock, turning their pocket into a messy key holder. Providing a solution, Italian designer Chiara Ripalti has come up with an innovative device named the “Ekey” that lets you access various places, such as the office, home or library, safely with just one small gadget. Easy to use, the device equips a fingerprint scanner to identify the fingerprint of the user before allowing entry to multiple private environments. Wrapped in a customized cover, the Ekey also includes a LED light that glows to mark a legal entry.
Taking inspiration from Brazilian snake called Sukuri (Anaconda)that circles and scans its food before swallowing it, Brazilian industrial designer Bruno Oro in collaboration with Electrolux has devised a concept that promises to present before you your favorite food in just fraction of seconds. Dubbed ‘Home Sweet Home’, the device will clone and teleport your favorite recipe with click of a button.
